Why is it called Porchlight Tales?

We may decline stories that contain excessive profanity, graphic content, personal attacks, political campaigning, legal disputes, private information, or material that does not align with the mission of Porchlight Tales.

Will I be paid if my story is published?

No. Story submissions are accepted on a voluntary basis and contributors are not compensated for stories selected for publication.

Do I keep ownership of my story?

Yes. You retain ownership of your story.
By submitting a story, you grant Porchlight Tales a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, adapt, edit, archive, and republish the story in newsletters, websites, blogs, email publications, printed publications, books, podcasts, audio recordings, video productions, YouTube channels, social media platforms, and other current or future media formats.

Why do you ask for publication rights?

The permission allows us to publish stories across our various platforms and preserve them for future readers. It also allows us to include stories in future collections, printed publications, audio recordings, podcasts, videos, and other media.

Why do you ask for permission to edit stories?

Stories may be edited for grammar, spelling, formatting, readability, clarity, length, and publication style while preserving the author's intended meaning and voice.

Will every story be published?

No. We appreciate every submission received. While we make reasonable efforts to review submissions, we cannot guarantee that every submission will be reviewed, responded to, or considered for publication. Publication decisions are made at the sole discretion of Porchlight Tales.

Do contributor views reflect the views of Porchlight Tales?

No. Contributor stories reflect the experiences, memories, opinions, and perspectives of the individual author and do not necessarily represent the views of Porchlight Tales or its authors.

Can I request that my story be removed later?

We will make reasonable efforts to remove stories from future digital publication upon request. However, previously distributed or published versions may continue to exist in archived emails, printed publications, books, podcasts, audio recordings, videos, social media posts, websites, and other media already released to the public.
